Hello! I know we’re into December, but before I can “officially” welcome December reading, I have my November reading to share with you. Overall, my November reading was pretty good. I had two 5 star reads and three over 4 star reads, so all in all a high quality reading month. Life wise, November has been quiet which works for me. I tend to provide life updates in the weekly Friday thread, so for this post I’m going to keep it book and reading focused.
I’ve been thinking about how I want to approach my reading for the last month of the year. Being a mood reader, it’s been a bit of a toss up as to whether I want to try to read some 2024 titles I didn’t get to and/or that are just coming out, backlist I’ve been meaning to read, or dipping into some of the 2025 advanced copies that are tempting me on my kindle. I’ve decided to sample a few December new releases that sound right up my alley…..
The Close Up by Pip Drysdale - about a struggling author who discovers the dark side of fame when a stalker begins reenacting violent events from her thriller. I have my eye on this because I loved The Sunday Girl by this author. I thought that was a compelling and entertaining under the radar psychological thriller
Havoc by Christopher Bollen - A twisty, atmospheric psychological suspense about a meddlesome elderly guest at a decadent luxury hotel who believes she has left her problematic past behind, until she decides to interfere in the lives of a young mother and her eight-year-old son, and finally meets her wicked match.
Sweet Vidalia by Lisa Sandlin - This life-affirming novel follows a fifty-seven-year-old woman forced to rebuild her life, unexpectedly and alone, in 1960s Texas
ICYMI - catch up on how my reading was going mid-month with this post, as well as browse some fun links and see the tv shows that have been hits….it’s been a great tv month!
The remainder of this post, including audio of the 5 surprise books I loved, a product, new tv show, and links I’m loving is for paid subscribers. I know this is a busy time of year and it’s also gift giving season which means your dollars are going many places, so thank you in advance if you decide to upgrade to paid today…
