Hello reading friends!
Happy Friday! If you celebrated Thanksgiving I hope you had an enjoyable day. We traveled to my cousin’s house and had a day of good food and fun family games. We love to play games in our family, especially cards so we had many people around the table playing Thirty-One . We played with quarters instead of chips and the big winner of about $8 was one of my sons. This was followed by a very competitive game of Oven Mitt Unwrap. We did not use a Santa hat, but a lot of fun was had and the surprise gift inside the box was cash - sadly I didn’t win haha. I finished out family game time with a game of Euchre, a card game that Wikipedia says is “commonly played in Australia, Canada, Great Britain, New Zealand, and the Midwestern United States.” I’m in the midwest so that’s true, but this is interesting - if you live in other parts of the US, do you play Euchre? Have you heard of it? Anyway, my mom and I won so I finished out game day with one win:)
I thought it would be fun to share about the games my family play as part of our holiday traditions because this post is all about holiday recommendations- ones to share and those you might be seeking. We can keep this thread going throughout December and I’ll link to it each week, so you can keep adding/checking it.
Whether or not you’re doing any Black Friday shopping, I thought I’d share a few links to some of the gift guides I’ve enjoyed browsing here on Substack this week.

Question Time
The questions I ask in weekly threads are meant to be fun and help us connect, so please know you don’t have to answer each question, if you only have the time/desire to answer one, great! Please put book titles IN ALL CAPS for easy reading:)
