I don’t keep track of my author stats but I feel like I read a high percentage of female authors. Since I lean into stories of motherhood that makes total sense to me. Great recs!
thanks for being my first subscriber and commenter friend:) I don't think I have % of female authors but now I kind of want to figure out what it is. I think at this stage of life I'm leaving into midlife and beyond reflection type of reads but I also really like motherhood books- I feel like ou might like Mother in the Dark!
I hadn’t thought to track the percentage of women authors I read - though I’m sure there are many. I’ve only heard of one book on your list (A Little Life which I’m planning to read with my sister at the end of the month) so this was super interesting and of course, served to lengthen my TBR. I can’t wait to check some of these out and support my fellow women authors!
I hope you end up enjoying any of these if you pick them up- A Little Life is my top book of the past decade! I read it in 2015 and still think about the characters, it's a great idea to have someone to read that with because you'll want to discuss it for sure
I’m currently reading One True Loves - looking forward to the screen adaptation! One of my all-time favorite female authors is Ann Patchett and her debut would be a great Women’s Day read!
Oh thank you for the Ann Patchett rec, I've wanted to read more of her work- I've only read (and loved) Bel Canto which the storyline and writing in that one was just so compelling.
Happy to connect with you here Renee. I’ve been enjoying the podcast for a few years now, and our book taste seamlessly aligns. Plus any fan of Mary Jane is a fan of mine 💗
Thank you Michelle! I know we've connected on IG so I'm excited to chat more on this platform- I miss so much on IG because I'm not on there a lot and the algorithm is so bad- I'm happy to hear our reading tastes align- I would love to find another gem like MJ that's set in the 70's or 80's those are my favorite decades to read about
This is so great Renee! Happy International Women’s Day and congrats on getting your first Substack post out into the world. :)
Thanks my friend!
I read it and really enjoyed it. The Long Answer was another under the radar gem from last year that I would recommend.
oh ok good- adding that to my tbr right now! That wasn't on my radar!
Great list! And I second Katie's recommendation for The Long Answer!
when I looked it up to download and saw the cover I realized I have seen this book before - you talked with the author Sara!!
