Listed: 15 Must Read Books By Female Authors
Happy International Women's Day & Welcome to my First Substack Post!
Hello!
I’m so happy to finally get my Substack launched and to make a return to writing about books. If you’d like a bit more background on my book and reading backstory check out my About page! This move onto Substack is a bit of a full circle moment for me as I began “talking” about books on the internet in 2016 when I began writing about books for my blog Itsbooktalk. That blog led me to my Instagram which led me to connecting with my friend Tina (@tbretc) and us starting our book podcast Book Talk, etc where I got to literally talk about books every week. Recently, I realized that I wanted to return to writing about books- and more! I’m especially excited about the ‘more’ which will be a mix of things I love including: book lists, book reviews, other content creators I admire, inspiration, tv shows/movies/products I’m enjoying and really anything else that’s on my mind.
For my first post and because today is International Women’s Day, I thought it would be fun to share some books I’ve enjoyed by female authors. I’m not sure of the exact percentage, but I would say that at least 60% of the books I read are written by women. There’s something extra special about reading books by known female authors, as well as getting a recommendation for a book written by a debut female author (sharing a few of those below!). My list (in no particular order) with links to Goodreads is below, plus I’ve put together a graphic for the covers because it’s always more fun to see the covers with the titles. These are all books I loved and would recommend! Let me know if we have any in common and I’d love to hear what books by female authors you’d recommend. Let’s Chat!

The Idea of You by Robinne Lee (debut)

This is so great Renee! Happy International Women’s Day and congrats on getting your first Substack post out into the world. :)
I read it and really enjoyed it. The Long Answer was another under the radar gem from last year that I would recommend.
