Wow, the minute I started reading the list, the Allende book came to mind! And sure enough. I cannot recall if I finished it. May need to pick it back up. The Frozen River is a more recent one, that fits. Honestly, I sometimes like to mix it up and read an opposite season. Dreaming of Spring and Summer right about now. I have been super slow reading. Have not quite gotten back on track since the holidays. Definitely need the diversion. My TBR is never ending. Sometimes I wonder if I have gotten to like the hunt, more than actually getting the reading done. Stay warm everyone!

I'm with you on the love of the hunt, I love researching books! Often I have to tell myself to take a break and start reading something haha

NO EXIT by Taylor Adams and THE DRIFT by CJ Tudor both come to mind when I think of winter vibes.

I read it during a snow storm. Never a better time for that book. Ha ha

I forgot about "The Child Finder" ! You recommended it years ago. It was so good! My favorite winter read of all time is "The Great Alone" by Kristen Hannah. :) Thanks for the rest of these recs!

I bought A Solitude of Wolverines a while ago, can't wait to read it! The Overnight Guest sounds really good, I did read The unwanted guest and yes, it was very Agaha Christie!

Maybe a bit too timely right now, but in terms of chilling reads, Snow Falling on Cedars (David Guterson) always comes to mind

I’ve only read Beartown, and I loved it! Two of these are now sitting comfortably on my TBR: The Diamond Eye and The Unwanted Guest!

I read 3 books on this list and agree with your assessment that they were really great books. I would add THE SNOW ANGEL, EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY HAS KILLED SOMEONE BY BENJAMIN STEVENSON, and and the book by Kimi Cunningham Grant. Was the title THESE SILENT WOODS OR THE NATURE OF DISAPPEARING? I am not usually a seasonal reader but I do enjoy it when a book that I’m in the mood to read pops up and it fits the season. I do not go out of my way to choose a book for this season. Nor do I postpone reading a book until it fits the season. I have to read what is striking me at the moment. I read WHAT BEAUTY THERE IS when I heard you talk about it on BTE. I loved it and never cried so much over a book as I did that one. I read The deep deep snow as I am a huge Brian Freeman fan. Another one of his that is set in the winter and is equally good is THIEVES FALL. That book blew me away. Highly recommend it. Lastly, I have bread almost out of Fredrik backman’s books with the exception of the last book in the BEAR TOWN series. I do have THE CHILD FINDER on my TBR.

That book left me stunned. That is all I will say. It really blew my mind. Just finished broken Harbor by ton of French and loved it. No one does police procedural or suspense like ton of French.

Loved Beartown and An Unwanted Guest, my favorite Backman and Lapena books of the many I’ve read! The Overnight Guest is really good too, I remember reading it in a single sitting on a winter night a couple years ago! :)

The Frozen River, by Ariel Lawhon. Although the book takes place in all the seasons, the name alone suggests winter!
