I read 3 on this list and Cover Story is my fav. You forgot Look Closer by David Ellis. I highly recommend The Killing Room by Robert Swartwood. It is one of my favorites from last year. Thanks for this list as I know you did it with me in mind. And FYI, I only have four hours left in Rebecca! Yay!!!
How do you feel about the more lighthearted, con-adjacent genre: the caper? Spoonbenders by Darryl Gregory (https://strongsenseofplace.com/books/spoonbenders_gregory/) — it's got the vibe of a 1930s screwball comedy plus genuine emotion — and The Last Equation of Isaac Severy by Nova Jacobs (https://strongsenseofplace.com/books/the_last_equation_of_isaac_severy_jacobs/) — eccentric family, bookshop, death by Christmas lights, adultery — are two good ones, if you want to mix in a little hijinks. They're not quite cons, but People Are Up To Things.
I think I’d love a caper story, I don’t read many but when you talked about Spoonbenders on your top 10 episode I immediately added that to my tbr. Thank you for the other rec too, that’s one I haven’t of
I feel like Spoonbenders is the book I'm chaperoning through the world. It was such a surprise to me — I want everyone to read it and tell me what they think :-) — Mel
I've only read The Last Flight and loved it! I have The Plot on shelves waiting to be read and I'm definitely adding quite a few off your list to my TBR!

I LOVED Look Closer and I rarely love a thriller! So smart!
If you liked Look Closer then you would like The Killing Room.
Thank you! Added it to my list!
I loved The Plot! The Sequel is one of my most highly anticipated books of this year.
I can't wait to read it, I'm hoping it's even better than The Plot
I’ve read Pretty Things, The Last Flight and Cover Story. I remember liking them all! Another book I liked and read was Stone Cold Fox.
I liked Stone Cold Fox also. I listened to the audiobook which was great!
I almost added "the book on my tbr" and it was Stone Cold Fox! I want to read that for sure
I love a good con story and most recently listened to There is No Ethan. I’ve read and loved so many of these recs.
I have Ethan on my summer tbr 👍🏻
Great post, Renee! A reminder that I must read The Plot soon (it has been on my shelf for a long time). She has The Sequel coming out October 1!
Thanks! I' looking forward to The Sequel

I've added some of these, strangely because I love this genre but haven't read many! I recommend First lie wins ^^
Thank you! This is a great list.
I saw the movie "The Talented Mr. Ripley" years ago! It was creepy good. I bet the book will be soooooo good!
So far so good, - you know I'm here for creepy
