Hello everyone! Renee you sold me on Diavola. I’m also continuing with the Jennifer Probst series that starts with Our Italian Summer. Also, The Heirloom by Jessie Rosen was a fun read lots of Italy, Portugal and some East Coast USA.

Loved, loved and loved the whole Elena Ferrante series. Worth the investment both in terms of following a life long friendship as well as learning about mid 20th century politics in Italy. 💕

I know I’ll read this someday, so glad you loved it!

Wow, I just put Diavola on hold at the library, and I been wanting to read Still Life by Sarah Winman, these two will be part of my August reads!

Yay! Those will make a very interesting book flight, completely different but you'll be immersed in Italy:) I listened to both and both are great on audio - well I did a combo ebook and audio for Still Life because that's longer- please let me know what you think of these whenever you read them

What a delightful treat! I poured myself a glass of Pinot Grigio (Santa Margarita, of course!) And just sat down and listened! Really glad I became a member…this feels like a good, bookish place for me. 😉😍😊

Oh I love hearing this! There’s a few of us in the group who are Santa M lovers:)

I LOVED Diavola! Meredith at Currently Reading reviewed it after I read it, and until now she's the only person I've seen (or know personally) who's read it other than me! I've been dying for a bookish friend to try it. The family drama/dysfunction just raised the psychological horror to another level. And you're right- it's so snarky and funny too. It's been one of my biggest pleasant surprises of the year!

I'm intrigued by The Lost Girls of Rome too- adding it to my list.

And I'm still so happy every time I get to hear your voice- you're doing such a great job!

Oh yay! Totally agree, the family dynamics were gold and would've been great with just that storyline but then add in the creepiness of the house and ghosts and it was even better

I love the podcast today and congratulations on learning to add music to your podcast. I did get a couple of book recommendations from this list and between yesterday’s newsletter and today’s post I am up six more books on my TBR. Really looking forward to next month’s topic of mysteries and suspense. Cannot wait to see what you recommend for that.

Thanks! I’m quite proud of learning how to edit the audio and add the music:) It seems like it would be so easy but it took me forever to figure out how to fade the music in the intro haha. I’m very excited to start researching mysteries and thrillers, I hope to bring a mix of new and old

In June I read and really enjoyed “The Sicilian Inheritance” - a bit mystery, a bit historical fiction, family secrets, and strong women!
