A Place for Us is soo good! I loved The Shell Seekers - found out it was my great grandma’s favorite book a few years ago & that bumped it up on my TBR list. I still need to read A Gentleman in Moscow!

It’s basically impossible for me to choose between A GENTLEMAN IN MOSCOW- the Count is one of my all time favorite literary characters- and A PLACE FOR US, which is heartbreakingly beautiful.

I really loved A Gentleman in Moscow, so much so that I refused to watch the tv series because I had made such powerful images of what the characters were like in my mind, that I didn't want to spoil them with someone else's.

The Remains of the Day is wonderful, as is Pachinko. I also enjoyed the tv series of Pachinko even though some things were changed for it. I thought the casting was excellent. I won't watch anything until after I've read it first though.

I did read Pillars of the Earth. It was fine and interesting, but not a favorite.

Thank you for your feedback! That's happened to me with beloved books- I can't watch the movie or tv series because I don't want the characters or story spoiled or changed from my reading experience

I've only read two of these, Pachinko and A Gentleman in Moscow....I went with Pachinko, but I really enjoyed both! Now I need to read a Place for Us I guess!

I have read all on your list except REMAINS OF THE DAY. I read THE SHELL SEEKERS many years ago and still remember I really liked it. The other books on your list were good but not great for me.

Oh Renee I still think about A Place For Us and the ending is so good and gives you a completely different perspective. I am not a re-reader but have thought about picking that one up again. I have been wondering why she has not written another book. One of my closest friends and trusted sources counts A Gentleman In Moscow as one of her all time favorites but she said you have to power through the first 100 or so pages. She has wanted me to pick it up forever and I still haven’t!

That's what I've heard about the ending of A Place For Us! I remember when Liz is Reading on Instagram put up a story about it and she was sobbing at the end- and I immediately wanted to read it- yet here I am and it's still unread haha

This was a hard choice. I love The Shell Seekers but I also love A Place For Us. I voted for The Shell Seekers because it's been on my favorites since it released, and I've read all of her books.

I thought A Place for Us was so well done, and Pachinko is also on my “someday soon” (?) TBR.

I've read Pachinko, Remains of the day, Gentleman, and Pillars of the earth. I don't remember Pillars, I think you'd like Pachinko. Remains is a very slow-paced book, but beautiful, I loved it but I read it maaaany years ago so I don't know now. And Gentleman in Moscow, I really enjoyed the first part but it dragged after a while.
