The Reading Lounge : New Release Books
A Substack Update, August New Releases, and What I've Been Reading Lately
A SUBSTACK UPDATE
Hi Friends! I’ve spent the past couple weeks thinking and re-thinking about how I want this space to look and function. And it turns out that I’m not really sure. After being on Substack for several months, I’ve realized a few things - it’s been harder than I thought to find my rhythm and publish posts consistently, I haven’t really landed on what type of posts and content I most enjoy writing, and I absolutely need to take some time and publish a wider variety of content in order to see what creates the most excitement for me as well as for readers like you!
For these reasons and in the spirit of fairness, I recently made the decision to turn off paid subscriptions and refund money to those who had graciously been paying subscribers. I appreciate the support so much! I’m going to spend the next couple months posting a variety of content and getting into a consistent writing rhythm. When I decide to turn paid subscriptions back on, I want to be able to provide quality, consistent content for you. With that being said, I’d love for you to like and comment on posts that you enjoy and share them with your reader friends.
The Reading Lounge is one of my new post ideas. I love the idea of sitting in a cozy place and either reading a book or reading about books:) So today I’m bringing you some August new releases I’m excited to read (I’ll include publication date), as well as the scoop on what I’m currently reading

LATEST READS
The Hummingbird’s Gift by Sy Montgomery - I listened to this and loved it! A little gem of a book and a great accompaniment to listen to while watching the hummingbirds on my feeder! They are amazing little birds - and they eat A LOT of nectar:)
The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O’Farrell is my current read. I’m about halfway and very invested in the main character, Lucrezia. This is my second book by Maggie O’Farrell (Hamnet was my first and I LOVED it) and her writing truly blows me away. The setting details for the time period she’s writing about in this story are incredible.
Thanks for Reading!
Love The Reading Lounge idea and you’ll find a rhythm before you know it! Thanks for sharing your reading life!
I’ve had The Bee Sting on my holds list at the library for a while. I’m even more excited to read it since it’s on the Booker long list.
