Morning Musings: Links, Book Rec, Delights
A mix of random musings, links I enjoyed, an under the radar book rec, sneak peek of an upcoming release, and what's delighting me lately
Hello,
I always love reading posts that contain a mix of different items, especially favorite products and interesting links (I LOVE to research), so I wanted to write that type of post as well. Also, any products I link to are ones I actually use and love, there are no sponsored products here and at this time I don’t have any affiliate links. I hope you enjoy reading and find something interesting to take with you as you go about your day!
Links I Love
Walking outside in nature everyday is something I consider vital to my well being. While that often means I’m walking in freezing temps and snow, I’ve discovered that getting outside during the winter helps alleviate the cooped in feeling that often comes with shorter days. I love these 5 reasons to walk from the NYTimes - as a ruminator I know reason 3 to be true for me!
I look forward to my large cup of dark roast first thing every morning - creme is a MUST for me but I’ve never stopped (until now) to wonder why we add creme or milk to our coffee ?
Three Rules for Middle Age Happiness - I want to read more from Nora Ephron
Have You Clocked These Boots? - I’ve never heard of Blundstones but I want a pair asap!
Make a To-Don’t List: When you’re feeling stuck, focusing on the things you hate can help - actually, this makes a lot of sense!

An Under the Radar Must Read
I’m a big Stephen King fan and one of my favorites of his (which I also think is one of his underrated books) is Joyland - my quick thoughts - I passed on this book for so long when it first came out because it reminded me of a comic book with that cover and title. When I finally started reading, I was VERY pleasantly surprised!  This is most definitely a mystery and coming-of-age story. The setting is a coastal North Carolina town and Joyland is an amusement park from days gone by. Things happen at Joyland for sure but not in a gory horror way.  This is an emotional mystery, and highlights one of the things I love about Stephen King…he can truly write unexpected stories in a multitude of genres.

Sneak Peek of an Upcoming Release - sharing brief blurb then the first sentence or paragraph
Everything She Feared by Rick Mofina- releasing April 11, 2023 - When a teen falls off a cliff while taking a selfie, the last thing she sees before plummeting to her death is Katie Harmon, the nine-year-old girl she was babysitting, looking down at her.
Seventeen-year-old Anna Shaw didn’t want to die. Adrenaline surged through every nerve ending, her fingers digging into the tree branch jutting from the cliffside. This was a nightmare. It couldn’t be real.
Sounds good doesn’t it?!!
Quote of the Day - Something to think about as you head into the weekend:)
Animals are the bridge between us and the beauty of all that is natural. they show us what’s missing in our own lives, and how to love ourselves more completely and unconditionally. The connect us back to who we are, and to the purpose of why we’re here. - Trisha McCagh

Enjoyable post, Renee! It’s a lot of fun catching up on these posts now that I’ve subscribed :) My husband badly wanted a pair of Blundstones. He bought a pair, wore them twice and they just didn’t work for him. They were slightly too narrow in the wrong spots and ended up being too uncomfortable. We gave them to our friend’s son...expensive mistake for my husband, lol. Other friends love them though.
I have a pair of Blunnies and they are great. I bought them to fit my feet with relatively thick wool socks and then bought their specific sheepskin liners which make them warm and perfectly sized to wear with tights. I have bad neuropathy and back pain so I can't wear them for long periods of time(not enough cushioning at all for me) but for short afternoon/evenings out or quick trips to the store they're really great. I highly recommend them but they're definitely not an all-purpose boot for me.
