Hello!

We’ve made it to the weekend and to November! How are you feeling about your reading lives as we head into the last few weeks of the year? I think a good word to describe how I feel about mine is satisfied. This has been a year of not putting pressure on my reading life and while that has led to me reading less books, the quality of my reading has been high. I’m happy with that.

In our discussion today, I want to hear all about what you’ve been reading lately and how you feel about your reads. I also want us to share the books we intend to read before the end of the year. One of my recent reads is Wreck by Catherine Newman, so I’ll share my conflicted (differing to all the raving) thoughts on that, plus a nonfiction I started and finished yesterday.

Before we get to our always lively discussion, I wanted to share some links with you! It’s been awhile since I shared links and I’ve been collecting some great ones including: No Thank You Notes? Fine, No More Gifts Then and Why Don’t People Write Thank You Notes Anymore? Look, I have strong opinions about this! I’ve gone to two family weddings in the last 2 years and never received even a text or email thank you (this is family so I would’ve been fine with a text or email, otherwise I say written thank you notes for weddings) for our gifts. I think this is ungrateful and rude. Maybe you have opinions too, if so let’s consider this a bonus discussion topic for this week:)

If you’d like join the conversation, meet some wonderful fellow readers, get recommendations, and have a community space (no trolls allowed) to look forward to every Friday consider upgrading your subscription. It’s a good time in the comments:)

10 Bonus Friday Links

  • The Best Books of Fall Bustle

  • The Best Books of 2025 Publisher’s Weekly

  • 6 new to Netflix movies in November to watch now with 90% or higher on Rotten Tomatoes Tom’s Guide
