Friday Features
Books, Products, Content Creators, Links, & More... Basically Anything I Want to "Feature" This Week
Hi Friends!
Happy Friday! If you’re familiar with life in the Midwest, you’ll know the weather is something we can’t help but mention so I have to tell you, after starting the week here in Ohio with cold temps in the 40s, we are rolling into Friday with SUNNY skies and warm temps☀️😎. Hallelujah. What a difference seeing the sun makes on my mood. Friday’s for me are podcast recording days for Book Talk, etc and Tina and I have a fun episode planned (we’re sharing 6 recent reads + 2 books we’ve added to our TBR’s) which will drop this coming Tuesday. After that I plan on heading out for a long walk at a local park, and evening plans could be either reading with a glass of Pinot Grigio on the patio or going to see Are You There God It’s Me Margaret.
Friday Features is a post I hope to bring you as often as possible in which I’m sharing anything I’d like to “Feature.” I personally love reading posts where people share a variety of things they’re loving and years ago I did something similar when I used to have a blog and it was one of my favorite posts to write. I plan on opening up my Chat Feature as well so we can share an abundance of features!

SUMMER READING GUIDES
Summer reading is upon us and I’m eagerly anticipating the variety of Summer Reading Guides and lists coming our way🏖️📚. Two of my most anticipated guides are coming from Kelly (@kellyhook.readsbooks) and Sara (@fictionmatters). These ladies put so much planning, advanced reading, and work into their guides and believe me, it shows! Until their new guides come out here’s handy links to their previous ones which would make perfect backlist summer reading guides….

A BOOK I RECENTLY READ & LOVED
Rootless by Krystle Zara Appiah
This book BLEW ME AWAY! I went into it with no expectations, picking it up because it was a community read for our Book Talk, etc Patrons on our Discord. Tina (Tbretc), my co-host, had already read it and said she had strong feelings so that’s really all I knew. It’s about Sam and Efe, a married couple who have loved each other since they were young kids. They live in London with their toddler and their life, while having had it’s ups and downs, is pretty great. Until one afternoon when Sam comes home and finds that Efe failed to pick their child up from the caregiver, and has withdrawn a large sum of money from their bank account and fled London. This is a wow story, one that is filled with character driven twists and turns, surprising revelations, and characters that feel so real- flaws, frustrations and all. When I say I finished this with a dropped jaw I’m not exaggerating. This book elicits strong feelings and emotions, and love or hate it, I dare say you won’t forget it. 5 ⭐️s! Be sure to check The Storygraph if you’d like to know content warnings
